Whilst i was down in the Stonehouse area i was quite taken back by the standard of living in the area.
It was very strange because of just being really poor or really rich, it was a mixture.
I mean you would be walking through one area wondering when you going to be stabbed or mugged, and then you would turn a corner and everyone would be looking at you with a weird look because your wearing a hoodie!
I would say that this was the only place ive seen like this in the whole of the south west. The only places ive experienced like this tend to be the massive cities, like London or New York.
Once again it made me stop & think how this area of Plymouth could of been so much more important if they had some improved fortunes in the past.
So i decided to jot down how the areas made me feel when i was in them, then i put them onto a map of Stonehouse.
So if the area is bright white, the area would be very nice houses and not a lot of people just hanging out on the street. In a way these white areas made me feel safe. The darker, almost black areas were the areas where i felt there was a real sense of desperation in the community.
